Primary Purpose:

The role of the 2024-2025 National Board Cohort Candidate is to pursue National Board Certification in order to improve student outcomes, increase the number of teachers shaping the profession, and increase compensation for teachers, librarians, and counselors.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

 

.Attend training for the National Board Cohort Mentor program prior to working with candidates.

.Assist in the recruitment and selection process for the National Board Candidates.

.Guide candidates through the National Board Certification process.

.Support the National Board candidates in submitting at least two components for certification to the National Board in the 2024-2025 school year.

.Participate in and support the administration of participant surveys, which may include candidates, mentors, and facilitators, administered by TEA up to three times per year.

.Meet with candidates to provide mentorship and guidance on National Board Certification per the guidelines available through National Board.

.Provide at least 10 hours of mentor support during the 2024-2025 school year focused on the National Board Components.

.Establish meeting times with candidates (e.g., cadence, types of check-ins, etc.).

.Create a system to track mentor-candidate interactions, including the number, duration, and frequency of meetings. The mentor will retain and submit this documentation to the Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction and the Executive Director of Human Resources.

.Adhere to the Policy Guidelines for Ethical Candidate Support and other guidelines for supporting candidates provided by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

.Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.

.Adheres to and complies with state, district, and school regulations and policies for staff.    

.Adheres to the Professional Ethical and Legal Standards in relationships with students, teachers, parents, patrons, peers, and support personnel.
