PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The role of the Principal is to direct and manage instructional programs and supervise operations and personnel at the campus level; to provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service, and to oversee compliance with district policies, success of instructional programs, and operation of all campus activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
.Master's degree
.Valid Texas Principal or other appropriate certification as per the Texas Education Agency
.Certified instructional supervisor and appraiser in the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-Tess)
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
- Ability to manage budget and personnel
- Ability to coordinate campus functions
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret data
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
.Three years experience as a classroom teacher
.Three years experience in instructional leadership roles
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned to campus including assistant principal(s),
teacher(s), counselor(s), librarian(s), instructional aides, clerical support staff, and custodians.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional districtwide and statewide travel; frequent
prolonged and irregular hours. |
