PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The role of the Police Lieutenant is to supervise a team of police officers, assist in the management of the police department, assist in the coordination of daily operations of the police department to provide a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors on district owned or leased facilities. Assist the Chief of Police in the administration of the police department. Maintain and enforce all applicable ordinances and laws as well as polices, directives, and standards of the district.
QUALIFICATIONS:
.High School Diploma or G.E.D., college hours preferred
.TCOLE Police Officer License
.Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Certified Field Training Officer, preferred
.Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Certifies Firs Line Supervisor, preferred
.Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education Instructors’ License, preferred
.Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Function as a police officer. When required, providing assistance and aid to citizens when appropriate
- Maintain an understanding of current federal, state, and local laws as they pertain to the activities of the FBISD Police Department.
- Function as a liaison between truance courts and the District.
- Oversee the police department’s recruiting and hiring process.
- Responsible for fleet management.
- Conduct internal complaint investigations ad directed by the Chief of Police.
- Assist in the the coordination of daily operstions of the police department.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Chief of Police in the supervision of the Police Department, including police officers and law enforcement support staff.
- Develop and supervise work schedules, documents all-time records, and prepars all paperwork necessary for payroll purposes.
- Performs other supervisory duties as assigned.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Exposure to all the hazards of police work, therefore must be physically active to meet the challenges. Working inside and outside where daily contact with students, faculty, staff, volunteers, and others not related to FBISD will occur. Work in all weather conditions and may be assigned to events that are scheduled at any time of the day or night. Required to carry a cell phone and to be available whenever called if physically able. A potential for being placed into a hazardous situation without warning that could require immediate physical reactions and/or legal use of force (that could include but not necessarily limited to physical defensive tactics and techniques, running, crawling, climbing, jumping, lifting, use of firearms, etc.). Potential for working in adverse and/or under personal risks due to conditions related to weather, human behavior, and crisis situations. May work in crowded situations (classrooms, campuses, stadiums, special events locations, etc.). May work alone and without the immediate assistance from other police and security personnel.
