Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in the health science industry, higher education and society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Hold an associate or more advanced degree from an institution of higher learning accredited or approved by an accrediting agency recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and Hold current licensure, certification, or registration by a nationally recognized accrediting agency as a health professions practitioner and
Two years of full-time wage-earning work experience as a health professions practitioner in a field that is nationally recognized by an accrediting agency. The required work experience must be approved by a certification officer of an approved educator preparation program and
Complete an approved Texas Educator Preparation Program Pass current certification exams. Contact your program for exam approval
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
Eligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian licensure and wage-earning experience; your educator preparation program will review for eligibility.
General Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of subjects assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Health Science clinical rotations and internship requirements, policies and procedures
Ability to align Health Science curriculum to targeted industry certification exams
Ability to provide content knowledge and skills in health-related professions
Ability to market Health Science program to students, staff, parents and business community
Experience:
Student teaching or approved internship |
